Headley is a parish of just under 500 electors and a precept income of £18,500 (2025/2026). Ongoing development in the village is expected to increase the population in the coming years, and this role will evolve in tandem, offering opportunities for professional growth.
The Parish Council are looking for a motivated and forward-thinking individual with a ‘can do’ attitude. You will be able to demonstrate strong administrative experience and financial management in a similar setting.
You are the key to the effective operation of the council, both in terms of helping to manage and execute the main aspects of its operations, and providing informed, impartial and professional advice.
You will be managing the finances of the council, progressing contracts and services, monitoring expenditure, income and receipts.
Applicants will have a positive attitude and be able to communicate effectively at all levels. The ability to inspire, motivate and develop excellent working relationships with both councillors and residents is essential.
Ideally you will have experience in a local government environment or in a similar role but more importantly, understand what it means to provide a positive and effective contribution to our local community.
The Council has a track record of encouraging their Clerk to develop the skills and knowledge to carry out the role effectively.
This post, 7 hours per week, is flexible and from home, with attendance at 6 parish council meetings per year, plus occasional extra meetings organised in advance.
